SunscreenWeekly Wellness | Skin Care for Summer

Now that spring is in the air, it’s only natural to want to go outside and soak up the rays! But before you get that much needed dose of sunshine, get in the habit of taking precautions to avoid skin damage. Did you know that overexposure to the sun can cause wrinkles, age spots and can increase the chance of skin cancer? Here are some simple steps you can use to protect yourself from the dangers of the sun:

1. Use sunscreen! An SPF of at least 15 should be used and reapplied every two hours.
2. Sun should be avoided between 10am – 4pm – that’s when the rays are the strongest. Try to be in a shaded area or wear a large brimmed hat.
3. Don’t over-do the tanning! There’s nothing wrong with lying on the beach (with sunscreen, of course), but don’t stay out too long – you don’t want to get burned!

RecycleEco chic

More and more people and businesses are making positive changes to reduce the carbon footprint by ‘going green’. Here are 5 easy ways you can begin to reduce, reuse and recycle in your everyday life.

1. Use a reusable tote bag for all your shopping needs. Many are already doing this at the grocery stores, but they can be used for any kind of shopping excursion. 2. Recycle your paper and plastic. Pick up some bins and use them to sort your recycling. 3. Carpool with a friend. Not only does this help out the earth, but it will give you time to catch up with a friend or co-worker and will save everyone money on gas. 4. Cut up old t-shirts for cleaning rags. They work just as well as paper towels and can be reused over and over again. 5. Avoid paper, plastic and Styrofoam plates and cups. You’ll have less clutter inside your home and less garbage to tend to.

Above all – be conscience of your daily activities and how they impact you, your lifestyle and the earth around you.
